Ochota Theater, Theatre company in Kolonia Lubeckiego, Warsaw, Poland
Ochota Theater is a theatre company in Warsaw, based at Reja Street 9 in the Ochota residential district. The venue holds around 100 seats, placing the audience very close to the stage during every performance.
The theater was founded in 1972 by Jan Machulski and Halina Machulska, a married couple, and opened with a production of Uciekła mi przepióreczka. Over the following decades, it gained wider recognition, including through Shakespeare productions performed in Zamość.
The theater has long been rooted in its residential neighborhood, drawing much of its audience from the surrounding streets of Ochota. Performances tend to attract families and older visitors alike, giving the space a welcoming, local feel.
The theater is in a residential area and is easy to reach by bus or tram from the city center. Because the space is small, shows tend to sell out quickly, so it is worth booking a seat in advance.
In 2022, the Warsaw Council of Seniors gave the theater a formal recognition for being especially welcoming to older visitors, which is rare for a company of this size. This points to a deliberate effort to keep the venue open and accessible to people of all ages.
