Teatr Rampa, Performance theater in Targówek, Warsaw, Poland.
Teatr Rampa is a theatre building in the Targówek district of Warsaw, offering musicals, comedies, and stage productions for audiences of all ages. The building holds two separate performance spaces, allowing the venue to run different shows at the same time.
Marian Jonkajtys founded the theatre in 1974, bringing a new stage venue to the eastern part of Warsaw at a time when most cultural life was concentrated closer to the city centre. Over the following decades the venue grew its repertoire and became a regular part of the city's theatre calendar.
Teatr Rampa runs a small gallery inside the building where paintings, drawings, and photographs are shown alongside the regular performance schedule. Visitors moving between the lobby and the auditorium often pass these works without expecting them.
The theatre is on Kołowa Street in the Targów district and can be reached by public transport from the city centre without much difficulty. It is worth checking the programme in advance, since both spaces can be in use on the same evening.
The theatre runs a children's company called Tintilo, where young performers stage adaptations of children's literature with support from professional actors of the main ensemble. This gives young performers a chance to work in a real theatre setting rather than a school or workshop environment.
