Teatr Sabat, Revue theatre in central Warsaw, Poland
Teatr Sabat is a revue theatre on Foksal Street in central Warsaw, where tables and chairs replace the traditional row seating of a standard theatre hall. The programme combines song, dance and sketches, all performed while the audience has dinner.
The theatre was founded in 2001 by actress Małgorzata Potocka, drawing inspiration from pre-war cabaret spaces and music halls. Influences from Paris and Broadway shaped the format that the venue still follows today.
The name "Sabat" refers to old gatherings where music, dance and company came together. Guests sit at tables, share a meal and find themselves just a few steps from the performers, which makes the whole experience feel very direct and personal.
Performances take place in the evening, so arriving a little early is a good idea to settle in and enjoy the dinner before the show begins. Since the meal and the programme run together, plan on spending the whole evening.
At the end of the evening, the stage turns into a dance floor and guests are invited to dance on it while the singers keep performing. The show does not end with a curtain call but with the audience stepping onto the stage.
