The defensive structure rises from an artificial hill within a stream valley, featuring sandstone walls that reach heights of 5 meters.
Originally constructed in the fifteenth century, the castle served as a residence for the knight Burgold von Stiebitz before passing to the Zedlitz family in 1426.
The castle remains reflect the architectural preferences of medieval Lower Silesian nobility through its quadrilateral layout and defensive earth ramparts.
Located near the Golden Bike Route, the castle ruins maintain their original double moat system and are accessible throughout the year without entrance fees.
The fortress, known locally as Gwiezdno or Star Castle, declined after 1540 when its owners constructed a Renaissance manor house in the nearby area.
