Podskale Castle, Medieval fortress in Rząsiny, Poland
The castle stands on a rocky ridge with steep slopes, constructed from erratic stones and divided into upper and lower sections with defensive walls.
Built around 1207 by Henryk Brodaty, the castle faced destruction in 1476 when miners from Kowary demolished its walls during King Matthias Corvinus's campaign.
The castle grounds contain remnants of medieval architecture, including a vaulted cellar and sections of defensive walls that reflect regional building techniques.
The castle ruins require climbing rocky terrain to access, with limited parking options and challenging navigation through village roads and cultivated fields.
Miners from the town of Kowary played a crucial role in the castle's conquest by using their expertise to breach its fortified walls.
