Łaziska Średnie

Łaziska Średnie is an industrial district in Łaziska Górne located where the Mikołowskie Hills meet the Oświęcim Basin. Residential neighborhoods sit alongside mining infrastructure and factory buildings, with homes and workplaces in close proximity to each other.

This settlement was first recorded in 1287 under noble rule, then became part of the Pszczyna domain in 1814. This transition marked the start of intense industrial development centered on coal extraction in the following decades.

The district carries deep mining roots through the active Bolesław Śmiały coal mine, which shapes employment and daily life for residents. Mining families have lived here for generations, leaving their mark on how the community is organized and how people spend their time.

The district has regular bus connections to neighboring cities, and local roads link it to major routes across the Silesian region. Visitors should note that residential areas and industrial sites are closely mixed, so a map is helpful for getting around.

Five coal mines operated at the same time by the 1880s, showing the enormous scale of industrial expansion in this area. This concentration of mining operations left a lasting imprint on the landscape and community structure.
