Ściana Olzy

Ściana Olzy is a limestone cliff in southeastern Poland with vertical rock faces made up of different sedimentary layers. The exposed strata clearly show how this landscape formed over millions of years.

The cliff was first studied in the early 20th century by scientists from the Polish Geological Institute to understand regional tectonic movements. These early investigations established the foundation for understanding the geological history of this area.

The formation serves as an educational site where geology students from Polish universities conduct field research and practical exercises throughout the academic year.

The site is accessible through marked hiking trails, with the best viewing points on the eastern side of the cliff. Sturdy footwear is important since the paths cross hilly terrain.

Natural hydrogen deposits were discovered near the cliff, indicating that the subsurface could be interesting for future energy projects. This geological feature makes the location significant not only for researchers but also for the energy industry.
