Fort 52 Borek features a dual-rampart system, a caponier, and two-level neck barracks covered with substantial layers of earth.
Built between 1885 and 1886, the fort served as part of the Austrian-Hungarian Festung Krakau to defend the Vienna route from Libertów.
The fort incorporates architectural elements from eight different national schools of fortification design, reflecting diverse European military engineering traditions.

In December 1944, an American B-17 Flying Fortress made an emergency landing in front of the fort after sustaining damage from anti-aircraft fire.
