Kamienica Pod Okrętem is a four-story townhouse on Świętojańska Street in Warsaw's Old Town with a three-axis facade. A Renaissance-style entrance portal is decorated with a carved sailing ship that stands out on the building's front.
The building was constructed in 1642 by goldsmith Stanisław Zalewski and later passed to merchants who modified it during the 1700s. After World War II destroyed much of the Old Town, architect Stefan Krasiński carefully rebuilt it from 1949 to 1955.
The sailing ship carved above the doorway reflects Warsaw's history as a trading hub and the connection between residents and river commerce. Today you can still see this maritime symbol when you walk past, and it remains part of what the Old Town neighborhood represents.
