Mietkowski Lake, Artificial lake near Sobótka, Poland
Mietkowski Lake is an artificial reservoir near Sobótka that fills a wide valley on the Świdnicka Plain. Small islands dot the western shore, while the water body is held in place by a dam across the valley.
The lake was created in the 1970s by damming the Bystrzyca River to form a water supply and flood control system. It took around twelve years for the reservoir to fill completely.
The lake sits near Mount Ślęża and serves as a gathering place where local people enjoy water activities and outdoor recreation. It connects the community to the surrounding landscape through everyday habits and seasonal visits.
