Church of the Assumption in Kłodawa

The Church of the Assumption in Kłodawa is a brick structure with Gothic vaulted ceilings, Renaissance sculptures, and Baroque altars at the center of the town. Its interior displays artworks and architectural elements from multiple centuries layered together.

Construction extended from the 1300s through the 1500s and reflects the architectural evolution of religious buildings in Greater Poland. This long building phase allowed different artistic styles to blend as work progressed over generations.

The church is dedicated to the Assumption of Mary and serves as a spiritual center for the local community in Kłodawa. Visitors can observe religious artworks spanning multiple periods that reflect how faith was expressed and practiced over the centuries.

The high altar was designed by Tyrolean architect Christoph Tausch between 1728 and 1729 and stands as a rare example of Baroque craftsmanship in the region. Its detailed carving and gilding display handiwork that would be difficult to replicate today.
