Saints Mary and John the Baptist church in Proszowice

The Saints Mary and John the Baptist church in Proszowice is a house of worship built with brick walls, pointed arch windows, and vaulted ceilings in the Gothic style. Tall windows flood light through the interior and show the typical architecture of the Lesser Poland region.

King Kazimierz Jagiellonczyk commissioned the current building, which was completed in 1454. It replaced an earlier chapel from 1240 that had stood on the same site.

The church displays features of Catholic sacred architecture with altars and religious artworks that reflect the evolution of faith practices over centuries. The interior furnishings tell of this place's importance to the local community.

Access is through the main entrance on the western side of the building and is available during opening hours. Visitors should expect regular services and plan their visits accordingly.

The structure gained official protected monument status in 1972 with designation A-371 in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship registry. This recognition safeguards the building from alterations for future generations.
