Saint John the Baptist church in Płock is a neo-Gothic building with three naves arranged in a hall-type layout and two front towers of different heights. The southern tower is noticeably taller than the northern one and defines the structure's visual character.
A wooden parish church from the early second millennium once stood at this site before the current structure was built between 1909 and 1912. The new construction followed late 19th century architectural principles and replaced several earlier predecessors.
Stone figures of Jesus Christ, St Peter, and St Paul stand in the entrance niches and welcome visitors. Inside, modern paintings show Christianity in Poland and fill the space with contemporary artistic interpretation.
The building stands on Nowowiejskiego Street and is reachable by public transport or car. Visitors should check mass times and expect limited access during services.
Inside the church rests a Baroque reliquary of St Joseph Calasanz from the 17th century, decorated with semi-precious gemstones. This precious artwork often goes unnoticed even though it connects visitors to the region's religious art heritage.
