The Saint James Church features brick walls, pointed arches, buttresses, and stellar vaults that exemplify the Gothic architectural style of medieval Poland.
The construction of this brick church began during King Casimir the Great's reign in the late 13th century, replacing an earlier wooden structure.
In 1435, the church hosted a significant clergy convention presided over by Bishop Zbigniew Oleśnicki to discuss matters of the Polish monarchy.
The church maintains regular mass schedules and remains open to visitors who wish to examine the preserved Gothic paintings inside the building.
Traditional bell-ringing ceremonies started in 1445 when townspeople rang the parish bell ten times to commemorate the Battle of Varna.
