Krucza Skała

Krucza Skała is a rock formation with natural caves and overhanging shelters located in the Sudetes Mountains of southwestern Poland. The site reveals multiple layers that record different periods of human occupation across thousands of years.

The site contains evidence of people who hunted and lived here during the final ice age. Stone tools and ancient hearths discovered in the rock layers tell the story of these early residents.

This rock shelter served as a refuge for people across multiple millennia in this mountainous region. The overhanging cliffs provided protection from the elements and predators, showing how early inhabitants adapted to life in the landscape.

Access to the site is by established trails that wind through the mountainous terrain and can be quite steep. Visit during warmer months when paths are dry and light conditions are best for exploring the rock formations and caves.

The deposit layers here are remarkably well preserved and show clear boundaries between different time periods. Researchers use these distinct separations to understand how climate and human behavior changed over centuries.
