Annunciation of St. Mary Church in Chojnice

The Annunciation of St. Mary Church is a Baroque building with three aisles arranged on a rectangular floor plan and side sections incorporating former chapels. The interior space is shaped by traditional religious architecture designed for worship and religious gatherings.

Construction started in 1718 and was completed in 1755, with the building originally serving as a Jesuit church in the region. The extended building period spanning several decades reflects the Jesuits' commitment to this religious center.

The interior displays late-Baroque painted surfaces showing saints and scenes from the Virgin Mary's life, created by artist Franciszek Ksawery Haefflich. These decorations fill the space with a warm religious mood that visitors notice right away upon entering.

The church is located near the current high school building and is open for visitors during regular religious services. Those entering should wear appropriate clothing and respect the usual expectations for sacred spaces.

The Rococo pulpit displays the Wolf family coat of arms, connected to Krzysztof Nataniel Wolf, a physician for the Polish army and the Czartoryski family. This detail reveals a link between the prayer space and the medical history of the region.
