The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Suwałki is a three-nave classicist building with a cruciform layout and two towers, where the northern tower features an octagonal shape topped with a pyramid-shaped roof. The building was constructed in 1845 as an Orthodox Church of the Assumption of Mary and converted to a Catholic church in 1917 during German occupation. This transformation reflects major shifts in the religious and political life of the region during the 20th century.
The church displays altars dedicated to European saints including Cyril, Methodius, Benedict, Catherine of Siena, and Bridget of Sweden, reflecting how different religious traditions have shaped the space over time.
