Saint Michael Archangel church in Kamieńczyk

Saint Michael Archangel church is a wooden house of worship in Kamieńczyk with a single tower crowned by a bulbous cupola that stands out from a distance. Inside, traditional wooden posts support the organ and galleries that line the space.

This wooden structure was built in 1710 on the site of a former Lutheran cemetery that converted to Catholic in 1631. The church emerged from these shifting religious circumstances of the period.

The church is dedicated to Saint Michael Archangel, and its interior displays hand-painted decorations created in 1734 by Anton Ferdinand Veit with religious symbols. These original artworks shape how the space looks and feels when you step inside.

The church is located on a hill at the center of Kamieńczyk and remains open throughout the year. To visit and receive a guided tour, it is best to arrange an appointment by telephone beforehand.

Only three wooden churches of this type remain in the Kłodzko district, making this one a rare survivor from that era. Its baroque and rococo features from the 18th century reflect a building style that has largely disappeared from the landscape.
