Saint Anthony of Padua church in Sokółka, Catholic collegiate church in Sokółka, Poland
Saint Anthony of Padua church in Sokółka is a three-nave church building with classical architecture, side chapels, and an elevated central section. Stone columns and arches divide the interior and support the roof structure throughout the entire space.
Construction took place between 1840 and 1848 under Father Józef Kryszczun's direction as a brick replacement church. Bishop Wacław Żyliński consecrated it in 1850.
The building displays works of Polish religious art and paintings showing moments from Saint Anthony of Padua's life throughout its interior. Visitors can observe how the side chapels serve as spaces for personal prayer and devotion within the community.
The parish office is open to visitors Monday through Friday, and daily services are held throughout the week. Plan your visit timing accordingly if you wish to see the interior without service activities.
In 2008 the building gained international attention following a Eucharistic event when scientific examination confirmed unusual properties in a consecrated host. This incident attracted the interest of both believers and researchers worldwide.
