Most Podgórski w Krakowie, Historical bridge connecting Kazimierz and Podgórze districts in Kraków, Poland

Most Podgórski w Krakowie was a wooden bridge that connected Podgórze with Kazimierz across the Vistula River. The structure rested on stone pillars and consisted of five spans, allowing both foot traffic and vehicular passage.

Construction began in 1844 and was completed in 1850, using materials from the surrounding region. The bridge played an important role in developing infrastructure across the river during the mid-1800s.

The structure received its name from Emperor Franz Joseph I and formed a central part of Kraków's transportation network for 75 years.

The site where the historic bridge once stood is easily accessible from the left bank of the Vistula and offers views of both riverbanks. Visitors can see the remaining stone abutments that mark the original construction.

The surviving stone foundations are now part of a walking route through Kraków that showcases the city's historical engineering works. This trail reveals how technology and craftsmanship shaped the city's development in the 1800s.
