The Bridge in Kiezmark is a road structure that spans the Vistula River, carrying vehicles and pedestrians across the waterway. The crossing connects settlements on both banks and handles daily traffic flow between the communities it joins.
Before the current structure opened in 1973, a temporary pontoon bridge connected the banks from 1948 onwards, requiring removal and replacement by ferry service during high water periods. The modern crossing replaced this earlier crossing arrangement.
Engineers Lucjan Malinowski, Jerzy Mieszczuk, Eugeniusz Łoboda, and Tadeusz Zarzecki contributed their expertise to design this northern crossing of the Vistula River.
The crossing is designed to handle vehicle traffic and pedestrians, providing direct connection between communities in the region. Keep in mind that this structure serves as a major transportation route and sees regular use throughout the day.
The construction involved components manufactured by two separate shipyards in Gdańsk and Gdynia, representing an unusual collaboration between regional marine construction companies. This shared production approach allowed the project to be completed more efficiently.
