Muzeum Tradycji Szlacheckiej w Waplewie Wielkim, Noble tradition museum in Waplewo Wielkie, Poland.
The Muzeum Tradycji Szlacheckiej is housed in a manor house with classical features including a symmetrical facade and rooms arranged in the traditional way nobles organized their homes. Inside, the collections display furniture, artworks, and written records that belonged to Polish noble families living in this region.
The estate was built in the late 17th century and passed through the hands of several Polish noble families. From 1759 onwards, the Sierakowski family owned it until 1939, a period that shaped much of what visitors see today.
The displays show furniture and belongings used by Polish noble families in their daily life, revealing how they lived and furnished their homes. These objects tell the story of what mattered to people from this social class and how they spent their time.
The museum opens Tuesday through Saturday, with visiting hours changing depending on the season you travel. From May to September the hours are extended to accommodate more visitors, while from October through April the schedule is shorter.
The composer Frederic Chopin performed at the manor during a visit in 1837, an event remembered by a plaque on the wall. Many years later the painter Jan Matejko also came here, and his visit too is marked by a memorial plaque.
