Multimedia Fountain Park at Podzamcze, Water and light show park in Podzamcze district, Warsaw, Poland
Multimedia Fountain Park at Podzamcze is an open-air installation in Warsaw built around a large pond fitted with hundreds of water nozzles and colored LED lights. The nozzles shoot jets of water into the air, working together with the lights to form moving images and patterns.
The park opened in 2011 on the site of a former concrete water reservoir that was once part of Warsaw's water supply network. The transformation coincided with the 125th anniversary of the city's water infrastructure.
The shows draw on Warsaw's history through images projected onto water curtains, accompanied by music from Polish artists. The program changes from season to season, so no two visits are exactly the same.
Shows take place in the evening, and the exact start time shifts depending on the month and sunset. It is worth arriving a little early to find a good spot around the pond before the crowd builds up.
One of the nozzle combinations creates a flat water curtain onto which the Warsaw Mermaid is projected using colored lights. This detail ties back to the old city coat of arms, where the mermaid has appeared for centuries.
