Park Miejski w Kaliszu

Park Miejski w Kaliszu is a large green space divided into distinct sections including the Old Park, Great Park, and Sports Park, all positioned along the Prosna River. The grounds feature walking paths, rest areas, and a diverse collection of trees and plants that define its layout.

This park was established in 1798 on the grounds of former Jesuit gardens and was the first public garden in Poland. Its creation under the direction of Kalisz president Jan Karol Horning marked an important moment in the country's approach to public spaces.

Scattered throughout the grounds are sculptures and monuments such as the Flora statue and a marble sundial, which reflect the city's artistic traditions and attract visitors interested in public art. These works give the place character and show how the community values its cultural heritage.

Located near the city center, this park is accessible year-round with well-maintained walking paths, seating areas, and refreshment options throughout the grounds. The different sections are easy to navigate on foot, making it convenient for casual walks of any length.

Within the park sits Kogutek pond, which appears in Maria Dabrowska's novel Nights and Days, and the grounds preserve around 150 tree species alongside numerous natural monuments.
