Town Park in Prudnik, Urban park in Prudnik, Poland
The Town Park in Prudnik is a green space in the center of the town of Prudnik in southern Poland, listed as an immovable monument. It contains old trees such as beeches and ashes, a statue of Diana, a historic music pavilion, tennis courts, and a memorial to local heroes.
The park was laid out around 1890, when a local society decided to connect the town with its surrounding forests. Over time, it grew to include monuments, a music pavilion, and trees planted for community milestones, all of which are still visible today.
Two oak trees in the park were planted to mark important anniversaries: one for Poland's 1000th anniversary and one for Prudnik's 700th. These trees stand as living marks of moments that mattered to the local community.
The park is accessible from Parkowa, Mickiewicza, and Dąbrowskiego streets, and sits close to the town center, making it easy to reach on foot. It can be visited at any time of year, though spring and summer show the trees and flower beds at their best.
Several of the park's alleys were laid out so that they end with a view of Biskupská kupa, the highest peak of the Opavské Mountains. This line of sight appears to have been part of the original design, and the view is still visible from those paths today.
