Florian Nowacki Planty Park in Kraków, Public park in Podgórze district, Kraków, Poland.
Florian Nowacki Planty Park is a green space in Podgórze situated where the Wilga and Vistula rivers meet. It features shaded paths beneath trees, children's play areas, and sports fields bordered by four surrounding streets.
The green space was created between 1868 and 1888 following the mayor's initiative at that time. Before this, a medieval royal pond occupied the site, followed later by a willow forest.
The park is named after Florian Nowacki, the mayor who opened this green space to the public. Inside, an obelisk honours Maksymilian Siła-Nowicki, a zoologist from Jagiellonian University who established Poland's first fishing organization.
The park is accessible during daylight hours and offers varied activities for different age groups. The best time to visit is on pleasant days when the paths are dry and the open spaces feel inviting.
A visit reveals this place underwent major renewal in 2008 and received modern facilities. Despite this modernization, it has kept its identity as the first public green space in Podgórze.
