Prywatne Muzeum w Petrykozach, Private museum and open-air museum in Petrykozy, Poland

Prywatne Muzeum w Petrykozach is a private museum housed in a classical manor house with columned porticos and shingle roof, set within a park of roughly 10 hectares that contains historical buildings. A separate gallery for paintings occupies the attic space of the main residence.

The estate came into the possession of actor Wojciech Siemion and his wife Jadwiga beginning in 1969, when they undertook a major restoration between 1975 and 1979. This renovation work transformed the property into a museum open to visitors.

The collection displays 20th-century Polish paintings and traditional wooden sculptures from different periods, offering insight into the artistic traditions of the region. Works by artists such as Beksiński and Dwurnik are shown alongside folk pieces, reflecting the range of Polish creative expression.

The painting gallery inside the manor opens only on the first Saturday of each month between noon and 5 p.m., while the outdoor museum section remains open daily to visitors. Plan your visit according to the schedule if you wish to see both areas.

Among the outdoor structures stands a preserved cottage from the 1830s that once served as both a hospital for the poor and a roadside inn visited by painter Józef Chełmoński. The building reflects how this location played a social role in the community for generations.
