Church of Saint John the Baptist in Bielsk

The Church of Saint John the Baptist is a brick structure with two towers of different heights, with the southern tower rising noticeably taller than the northern one. The building was designed following Neo-Gothic principles and stands at the center of Bielsk.

The current church was built between 1909 and 1912 following designs by architect Józef Pius Dziekoński. It replaced earlier wooden structures that dated back to the 11th century.

The interior walls display painted decorations from the 1980s that show different phases of Christian development in Polish history.

The building stands at Wolność Square in the center of Bielsk and is easy to reach on foot. Visitors should know that regular services take place there and appropriate respect should be shown.

Inside the church is a Baroque reliquary of Saint Joseph Calasanz from the 17th century, decorated with semi-precious stones arranged in a cross shape. This ornate piece is often overlooked despite being a remarkable example of religious craftsmanship.
