Dobra Palace, Noble residence in Dobra, Poland.
Dobra Palace is a residence built in neo-Gothic style featuring high basements, two principal floors with an attic, multiple projections, and a six-story tower. The structure combines various architectural elements into a cohesive design that dominates the landscape.
The residence was built around 1750 for Count Erdmann Karl von Roedern and underwent major transformation between 1857 and 1860 under Count Hermann's supervision. These renovation works established the neo-Gothic appearance that defines it today.
The palace grounds include a landscape garden with neo-Gothic gates and scattered stone Rococo sculptures positioned along the Biała River. Walking through the park today, visitors can see how the original design shaped the space and created a harmonious setting around the residence.
The site is accessible by train from Gliwice to Kędzierzyn-Koźle, followed by local transport to the village. Plan your visit in advance since the location is remote and access to the grounds may be restricted.
The building suffered severe fire damage in January 1945 and stood abandoned for many years afterward. Beginning in 2000, entrepreneur Franciszek Jopek committed resources to its restoration and prevented it from complete deterioration.
