Gawrony Castle, Medieval castle in Rudna, Poland

Gawrony Castle is a stone and brick structure comprising upper and lower sections, with fortification elements distributed across the grounds. The layout demonstrates a typical medieval fortress arrangement with multiple levels and preserved defensive features.

The origins date before 1612, when a member of the von Niebelschütz family received permission from Emperor Rudolf II to build a chapel. This early authorization shows the estate held significance among the regional nobility.

A ceramic workshop on the grounds demonstrates traditional pottery techniques that have been valued in the region for generations. Visitors can observe craftspeople at work and learn about local handcraft traditions.

The castle lies along the Rudna-Chobienia route with forest areas to the north and southeast, and farmland bordering the remaining sides. The wooded surroundings offer natural protection and make the site accessible via the marked route.

The name of the estate has changed over centuries, documented in different versions that reflect the region's shifting history. These name variations show how local identity was shaped by political and cultural transitions.
