The defensive walls of Paczków extend 1,200 meters around the town in an oval shape, featuring 24 half-towers and four main gate towers.
Built around 1400, the fortifications underwent reconstruction in 1514 under Bishop Jan Turzo, creating a new system of walls, gates, and towers.
The fortifications earned Paczków the name 'Polish Carcassonne' and represent medieval military engineering techniques used in Central European town defenses.
Visitors can examine the defensive structures through four access points created in the 19th century to improve circulation around the historical center.
The walls incorporate 20 semicircular and 4 angular towers, with wooden porches supported by brackets protruding from narrower wall sections.
