Lagoa de Óbidos

Lagoa de Óbidos is a coastal lagoon between Caldas da Rainha and Óbidos, stretching about 6.9 square kilometers and divided by two main channels that branch into separate arms. The water connects to the sea and is bordered by salt marshes and low shores where fishing boats sit and fields meet the water's edge.

The lagoon shaped the development of the surrounding settlements, particularly Óbidos, whose castle was strategically positioned on high ground overlooking the water to control the region.
