CTFD PortoGaia, Football training center in Olival, Portugal.
CTFD PortoGaia is a football training center in Olival, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal. It has five pitches, four with natural grass and one with synthetic turf, alongside medical rooms, hydrotherapy facilities, and separate areas for youth and senior squads.
The center was designed by architect Alcino Soutinho and completed in 2002, funded by a major investment from the municipality of Vila Nova de Gaia. It was built to give the region a modern base for football at a professional level.
The training center serves as a key development ground for emerging football players and shapes how young talent grows in northern Portugal. FC Porto's academy presence here has become central to the region's football culture and identity.
The center is primarily used for internal FC Porto operations and is not set up for regular public visits. There is a small stand that can be used during certain matches or open training sessions.
FC Porto uses the center under a 50-year lease and pays the municipality a very low monthly fee for it. This arrangement makes the center a rare example of a long-term partnership between a professional club and a local authority.
