The stone structure contains a single nave with carved capitals and detailed archivolts surrounding the main entrance of the church building.
Built in 1176 for residents outside the city walls, the chapel later served as the Bishop's residence before the construction of Leiria's new Cathedral.
The structure temporarily functioned as a theatre during the 1800s after religious orders were abolished, demonstrating the changing needs of local society.
Located at Largo de São Pedro 2400-235, the chapel remains accessible to visitors who can reach it by car or through walking paths.
The restoration work between 1933 and 1937 revealed original architectural elements that make this chapel the oldest religious building in Leiria.
