Ribeira Brava beach

Ribeira Brava beach stretches roughly 150 meters along the Atlantic coast and features dark pebbles with direct ocean access. The shoreline is framed by steep rocky cliffs that give the area a dramatic appearance.

The town developed around a river mouth whose strong winter currents are reflected in its name, established in the early 1900s. The beach served as an important landing point for local fishing and trade activities for generations.

Local fishermen work here using traditional methods and sell their catch to nearby restaurants and the town market.

Lifeguards, showers, and restrooms are available on-site, along with sunbed rentals and parking near the waterfront. Visitors should pay attention to local tidal conditions, as water conditions vary by season.

A natural rock pool beside the beach offers a sheltered bathing area when ocean conditions turn rough. This formation was created as waves and tides smoothed and carved the rocks over many years.
