Monumentos da Serra da Brenha, que incluem o Dólmen das Carniçosas

The Carnicosas dolmen features a polygonal chamber with seven stone supports and a 3.5-meter-long corridor oriented toward the east.

Archaeologist Antonio dos Santos Rocha discovered and classified this megalithic structure as a National Monument in 1910, conducting initial excavations in 1898.

The dolmen forms part of a 13-kilometer necropolis extending along Serra da Boa Viagem and Serra da Brenha ridges, reflecting ancient burial practices.

Visitors can reach the archaeological site from Arruelas village by following Rua das Carnicosas and the directional signs toward the monument.

The monument contains archaeological materials from two distinct funeral periods: Neolithic and Chalcolithic, with numerous projectile points and human remains.
