Hunedoara

Hunedoara is a city in the eastern foothills of the Poiana Ruscăi Mountains in northwestern Romania, developed around Corvin Castle. The city also administers several surrounding villages and is connected to neighboring areas through national highways.

The settlement emerged around 1265 as a fortified place and later grew into an important center for iron processing. From the 18th century onward, numerous smelters were built in the region, shaping the economy for generations.

The castle defines the city's character through its Gothic design and towers that have shaped life here for centuries. You can see medieval construction techniques in the courtyards and fortifications as you walk through today.

The best way to explore the city is on foot to observe the medieval architecture and industrial structures from different periods. The streets are easy to navigate, and visitors can walk between the main sights without difficulty.

The metallurgical facility founded in 1884 became one of the country's largest steel production sites and shaped the city's industrial landscape in the 20th century. Its massive industrial buildings are still visible today and tell the story of intense manufacturing heritage.
