Cluj-Napoca Hintz House, Historic monument in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.
The Hintz House is a two-story stone building with a classicist facade from the early 19th century and a Renaissance ground floor featuring numerous architectural details. Inside, four main rooms and a basement serve as the Pharmaceutical Museum.
The building served as Cluj-Napoca's first pharmacy from 1573 and changed ownership several times before the Hintz family acquired it in 1851. Under this name, it became a significant center for pharmacy in Transylvania.
The building carries the Hintz family name, who shaped it in the 19th century and left their mark on the pharmacy's operation. Visitors can still see how this place reflects the medical practices and daily life of earlier times.
The house is located at Piața Unirii 28 and can be observed from outside as well as when entering, with rooms arranged logically throughout. Visitors should allow enough time to explore all levels since the basement contains additional collections.
An unexpected discovery is a Hungarian fresco from the 18th century depicting scenes from pharmacy history with symbolic details. This wall painting offers a rare glimpse into the artistic decoration found in pharmacies of that era.
