Juhor, Mountain peak near Paraćin, Serbia
Juhor is a mountain range between Kragujevac and Paraćin with several peaks, with Veliki Vetren at about 774 m being the highest. The terrain offers different hiking routes connecting summits such as Cvetkov grob, Lipovača, and Zmajevica across a span of roughly 30 km.
The area had ancient settlement, as 1997 excavations at Veliki Vetren revealed Celtic remains with weapons, jewelry, and clothing from the 3rd century BC. These findings suggest strategically important occupation in the region during that era.
Two active monasteries in the mountain region shape its spiritual character, representing a religious tradition that has endured across centuries.
The mountain is accessible by several routes and offers hikes of varying difficulty to reach different summits. The best season for hiking is spring through autumn, when weather and trail conditions are most favorable.
The Zapadna Morava marks the southern edge of the massif, while the Velika Morava river valley forms a distinct boundary to the east. These two waterways shape the geographical identity of the region in a distinctive way.
