Krasnoyarsk

Krasnoyarsk is a major city in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, stretching across both banks of the Yenisei River and serving as an important industrial and transport center in Siberia. The city sits between the Eastern Sayan Mountains and the West Siberian Plain at roughly 287 meters elevation, with several bridges connecting the two shores and residential districts spreading across the surrounding hills.

Cossacks established a military outpost here in 1628 under the leadership of Andrey Dubensky, naming it Krasny Yar after the red cliffs along the riverbank. Over the following centuries, the settlement grew into an administrative and commercial center along the route connecting European Russia with the Far East.
