Kashin, District center in Tver Oblast, Russia
The town of Kashin extends along both banks of the Kashinka River, featuring 36 architectural monuments and numerous Orthodox churches across its territory.
First documented in 1238 during the Mongol invasion, Kashin developed from a fortified settlement into a significant trading center between Moscow and Tver principalities.
The Resurrection Cathedral, dating from 1382, stands as a central religious structure, housing an accessible bell tower with bells from the 1870s.
Visitors can reach Kashin through regular bus connections from Moscow and Saint Petersburg, or by train services connecting to Sonkovo and Savyolovo stations.
The Veresk distillery, established in 1898, produces spirits using red bilberries from the Russian Far East and operates a mineral water facility.
