Located on the banks of the Protva River, Borovsk spans across 10 square kilometers at an elevation of 166 meters above sea level.
Founded in 1358, Borovsk belonged to the Principality of Ryazan before becoming part of the Grand Duchy of Moscow in the 14th century.
The St. Paphnutius Monastery, established in 1444, contains structures from the Boris Godunov period and remains a central religious monument of the town.
The town serves as the administrative center of Borovsky District, containing 112 rural localities and maintaining essential municipal services for 12,598 residents.
Local artist Vladimir Ovchinnikov transformed the town through painted façades across downtown buildings, creating an open-air gallery of architectural art.
