Domodedovo International Airport, International airport in Domodedovsky District, Russia
Domodedovo International Airport is an international airport in Domodedovsky District, Russia, situated roughly 35 kilometers south of central Moscow and serving both domestic and overseas travelers. The terminal building is organized into separate departure and arrival zones spread across multiple levels, with gates arranged along long corridors.
The airport opened in March 1964 with flights linking Moscow to other Soviet cities and gradually expanded over the following decades. Privatization and modernization in the 1990s transformed the terminal and allowed for more international connections.
The airport serves as a central transportation hub connecting Russia with major cities across Europe and Asia through numerous international carriers.
The Aeroexpress train runs from the terminal to Paveletsky station in roughly 45 minutes, while buses and taxis are also available. Travelers should allow extra time for security checks, especially during morning and early evening peak hours.
The terminal includes an observation deck where visitors can watch aircraft movements on the two parallel runways below. East Line Group manages operations under a long-term lease arrangement, while the runways remain under state ownership.
