Reutov

Reutov is an urban center east of Moscow in Moscow Oblast, whose boundaries sit directly against the Moscow Ring Road and spread across flat terrain. Buildings range from multistory residential districts to industrial complexes distributed along wide streets and interrupted by small green spaces.

The settlement appeared in the late 15th century as a village and grew into an industrial site from the 1800s onward through a cotton mill. After World War II a major aerospace company established itself here, accelerating the shift to a modern town.

The local name comes from the Slavic word for radish or turnip, pointing to earlier farming roots. Today wide boulevards and Soviet-era apartment blocks shape the cityscape, while residents stroll through parks and along main streets.

Several bus lines connect the center with Moscow, and nearby metro stations lie a few walking minutes away. The streets run mostly straight and are easy to survey, which simplifies orientation.

This place officially holds the status naukograd, a designation for towns with a high share of research institutions and scientific production. Such settlements enjoy special support to foster technological development.
