Belozersk

Belozersk sits on the southern shore of Lake Beloye and features medieval stone churches alongside earthen fortification walls from the 16th century. The town spreads along the water with these historical structures still standing, giving a sense of how the place was once defended.

The settlement was first mentioned in 862 and relocated from the northern shore to the southern bank following a severe plague outbreak in 1352. This move shaped where the town stands today and its development afterward.
