Vytegra

Vytegra is a town that stretches along the Vytegra River as a significant port on the Volga-Baltic Waterway connecting Moscow with Saint Petersburg. The river shapes the town's layout, with historic and modern buildings lining its banks and defining the character of the place.

The settlement was first recorded in 1496 as Vytegorsky Pogost and gained town status in 1773 after a naval shipyard was established on the river. This development turned the place into a regional center for shipbuilding and river trade.
