Kolyvan

Kolyvan is an urban settlement located along the Ob River banks in Novosibirsk Oblast, approximately 40 kilometers north of the main city. The settlement stretches along the water with residential and administrative buildings spread throughout the area.

The settlement was founded in 1797 as a trading center and became an important hub for the region's commerce. This period of growth came to an end in the 1890s when the Trans-Siberian Railway route bypassed the area entirely.

The local museum tells the story of how this place grew and changed over time through objects and documents that belonged to people who lived here.

The settlement can be reached by bus from Novosibirsk, with the journey taking around one hour along regional roads. It is best to check the bus schedules ahead of time since services may not run frequently throughout the day.

The settlement still contains wooden houses from the early 19th century that show traditional Siberian building methods and materials. These old structures give visitors a glimpse into how people once lived and constructed their homes in this region.
