Rozhdestveno Memorial Estate

Rozhdestveno Memorial Estate is a two-story wooden mansion with a stone foundation and a belvedere featuring four Ionic columns at its main entrance. The building sits within a larger property that includes grounds, gardens, and surrounding structures typical of 18th-century country estates.

The estate was the Nabokov family home until 1917, when they fled Russia during the revolution and abandoned the property. Following their departure, the building served different purposes including operating as a school and residential facility.

The house served as the family home of writer Vladimir Nabokov and shaped his early life and literary imagination. Visitors can see personal objects and photographs that reveal how this intellectual family lived and thought during their time here.

The estate opens on specific weekdays and is best visited with advance notice to arrange guided tours of the buildings. It is advisable to check opening times before visiting, as access is limited to particular days throughout the week.

The grounds hold ancient trees that have stood for over 200 years, creating a sense of timelessness throughout the property. Natural springs also emerge from red rocks in one corner of the garden, adding a distinctive geological feature to the landscape.
