Konakovsky District, Municipal district in Tver Oblast, Russia
Konakovsky District stretches along the Volga River and encompasses the Ivankovo Reservoir area with numerous settlements across southeastern Tver Oblast. The landscape includes riverbanks, water features, and rural villages spread throughout the territory.
The district was established in 1929 and initially belonged to Moscow Oblast before transferring to Tver Oblast. German occupation during World War II brought significant disruption to the area.
The Church of the Nativity of the Theotokos in Gorodnya remains a spiritual center for local residents and reflects the Orthodox traditions that shape community life. Its presence marks religious continuity across the region.
The Moscow-Saint Petersburg Railway runs through the district from south to north with stations at Zavidovo and Redkino. These stops offer regular train connections for visitors passing through or exploring the region.
The creation of Ivankovo Reservoir in 1937 submerged the original district center of Korcheva and forced the relocation of administrative functions to Konakovsky. This major transformation fundamentally reshaped the geography and administration of the area.
