The red brick church features blue domes adorned with white carvings, symmetrical proportions, and a western bell tower added to the original structure.
Alexander Sibiryakov initiated the construction in 1885, gathering donations from Irkutsk merchants to build this church for the working-class neighborhood residents.
The central iconostasis, made of Indian granite, rises 13 meters high and weighs 70 tons, with decorative work completed by Chinese craftsmen.
The cathedral opens daily from 8:00 to 19:00 and welcomes visitors at 34/1 Barrikad Street in Irkutsk, serving as the main cathedral of Irkutsk diocese.
The church grounds include a garden with Siberian cedars, Mongolian oaks, and Canadian spruce trees, along with a fountain containing sturgeon fish.
