Cathedral of the Theotokos of Kazan

The Cathedral of the Theotokos of Kazan is an Orthodox church built from red brick with distinctive blue domes adorned with white carved details. The structure displays balanced proportions and features a western bell tower that was added to the original design.

A merchant named Alexander Sibiryakov initiated construction in 1885 with funding from Irkutsk traders. The project was created to serve the expanding working-class population in this neighborhood.

This cathedral serves as a spiritual center for the local Orthodox community, with regular services and ceremonies that draw worshippers throughout the year. Visitors experience the living religious traditions practiced within its walls daily.

The building is open daily and can be reached from Barricade Street, which is easily accessible on foot. It is situated in a residential part of the city and serves as an active place of worship.
